Communities Component (BCF-CC)

All Manitoba BCF-CC funding has been allocated. New applications are not being accepted and additional intakes are not expected in the near future.

Projects funded under the regular BCF - CC allocation must be completed by September 30, 2015.

Projects funded under the BCF - CC “Top-up” must be completed by March 31, 2011.


In September 2008, Canada and Manitoba signed the Canada-Manitoba Building Canada Fund- Communities Component Agreement (BCF-CC) under the Government of Canada Building Canada Plan.

Within the BCF-CC Agreement the Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba each invested $41 million towards infrastructure construction, expansion, renewal or upgrade projects in communities with less than 100,000 residents.

This funding is helping to improve the quality of life of Manitobans by providing additional support to communities for eligible projects under the following categories:
  • Water Infrastructure
  • Wastewater Infrastructure
  • Public Transit Infrastructure
  • National Highway System Infrastructure
  • Green Energy Infrastructure
  • Disaster Mitigation Infrastructure
  • Solid Waste Management Infrastructure
  • Brownfield Remediation and Redevelopment Infrastructure
  • Culture Infrastructure
  • Sport Infrastructure
  • Connectivity Infrastructure
  • Local Road Infrastructure
  • Short-line Rail Infrastructure
  • Short Sea Shipping Infrastructure
  • Regional and Local Airports Infrastructure
  • Tourism Infrastructure
  • Collaborative Projects
BCF-CC program is funding projects over a 10-year period ending in 2017 and will make a real difference in the everyday lives of Canadians, while supporting the nation's priorities-a stronger economy, a cleaner environment and better communities.
