Overview
Launched in 2000, the Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Programs (CMIPs) continue a history of collaboration and partnership between Canada and Manitoba with initiatives that promote and support long-term and viable economic development in the province of Manitoba.

The umbrella program consists of three funds:
  1. the Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (MRIF);
  2. the Canada Strategic Infrastructure Fund (CSIF); and
  3. the original Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Program (CMIP), which is now complete after investing $180 million into Manitoba’s urban, rural and northern municipal infrastructure during an eight-year period.
These programs support enhancements to Manitoba's urban, rural and northern municipal infrastructure. Through the construction, renewal, expansion or material enhancement of infrastructure throughout Manitoba, the CMIPs are improving the quality of life for all citizens and building the foundation for sustained long-term economic growth.

CMIP and MRIF and are funded by equal three-way contributions from the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba and local governments or community partners. CSIF emphasizes partnerships with any combination of municipal, provincial, territorial governments as well as the private sector for large-scale projects of national and regional significance.
