Infrastructure Stimulus Fund
Quick Links:

All Manitoba ISF funding has been allocated. New applications are not being accepted and additional intakes are not expected in the near future.

The deadline for projects funded under ISF has been extended from March 31, 2011 to October 31, 2011. (Deadline for Stimulus Projects Extended)

Through the Economic Action Plan, the Government of Canada established a new $4-billion Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF) that provides funding to provincial, territorial, municipal and community construction-ready infrastructure projects. The ISF complements existing federal infrastructure funding by focusing on short-term objectives for economic stimulus.

The Province of Manitoba is matching federal funding and working together with the Government of Canada to ensure that these funds are delivered effectively and efficiently to municipalities in the province. These funds focus on the rehabilitation of existing assets, but new construction projects are also eligible, provided they can be fully completed by March 31, 2011, and represent incremental investment on the part of the municipality or not-for-profit organization.

About the Program

Launched in Manitoba on May 22, 2009, the ISF is providing for the construction of infrastructure projects to be built over the next two years (2009-10 and 2010-11). Construction readiness is a key project selection criterion to ensure funding provides short-term stimulus to the economy, through, for example, the rehabilitation and retrofitting of existing facilities to improve safety or extend their useful life.
  • Eligible projects include water, wastewater, transit, roads, culture, parks, trails and community services infrastructure (see Program Guide for more details on eligibility).
