Federal-Provincial Governments

The Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba are working with community partners such as local governments and other community organizations in the private and non-profit sectors to improve and renew public infrastructure in all of Manitoba.
  • Government of Canada
    • Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is helping the West to develop its full economic potential through a variety of programs and services, tailored to the region's own particular strengths, needs and opportunities.

      In Manitoba, WD delivers Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Programs on behalf of the Government of Canada and Infrastructure Canada. The Infrastructure Canada Program is a national program designed to help renew and build infrastructure in rural and urban municipalities across Canada. By administering this program in Manitoba and the other western provinces, WD is helping to ensure that western Canadian communities have the municipal physical infrastructure to meet their development needs.

    • Industry Canada is helping western Canadian provinces respond to the recent economic downturn through several key strategic economic stimulus programs announced under the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan.


    • Transport Canada is responsible for infrastructure programs related to Canada's gateways and borders, including the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative and the Gateways and Border Crossings Fund.


  • Province of Manitoba

    The Province of Manitoba’s responsibility for the Canada-Manitoba joint funding programs resides with the following departments:
    • Infrastructure and Transportation (MIT) - Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Programs, including Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (MRIF), Community Strategic Infrastructure Fund (CSIF) and Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Program (CMIP); Building Canada Fund - Communities Component (BCF-CC), Regular and Top-Up; Building Canada Fund - Major Infrastructure Component (MIC); Provincial - Territorial Base Fund (PT Base); Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF); Asia-Pacific Gateways and Corridors Initiative (APGCI); Gateways and Border Crossing Fund (GBCF).


    • Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade (ETT) - The Canada-Manitoba Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)


    • Advanced Education and Literacy (AEL) - The Knowledge Infrastructure Program (KIP)
