Economic Action Plan (EAP)

In January 2009, the Government of Canada introduced a comprehensive stimulus package known as the Economic Action Plan (EAP). This plan addressed considerable concern at the time about the effect of the global recession on the Canadian economy and on Canadian workers and families.

Canada's EAP was part of a co-ordinated international response to eliminate the threat of financial collapse in late 2008 and 2009 and to protect jobs during the global recession.

The Governments of Canada and Manitoba are working with municipal partners to ensure that stimulus funds are spent by March 2011 so that communities benefit from these measures as they attempt to come out of the recession. This also makes sure these extraordinary stimulus measures end as economic recovery takes hold.

Impact on CMIS programs
The EAP has had a direct impact in Manitoba through the following economic development funding programs administered by CMIS.

Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF)
Knowledge Infrastructure Program (KIP)
Community Action Fund (CAF)
Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC)
